‘Jack Diamond has been murdered. He was found face down in the river next to Reading Abbey last night.’
Fancy yourself as a budding detective? Well, if you are in the Reading (Berkshire) area on Saturday 5th or Saturday 12th August, I urge you to click the link here and grab yourself a ticket to take part in an elaborate timed, live action, murder mystery
treasure hunt that takes place in Reading town centre on a VERY limited run. We at Shoot from the Trip were lucky enough to bag ourselves some tickets to the event on Saturday 29th July.
Jack Diamond, an unpopular local businessman is planning to demolish the ancient Reading Abbey ruins to make way for The Golden Abbey Casino. Certain individuals are not happy about this, leading to Jack’s untimely death.
As a team of detectives, you are briefed by Scotland Yard on the events of the previous night, as well as being given some information on potential suspects and locations around town that are worth checking out. From this point you are on your own and given 2.5 hours to scour the streets of Reading, to find and solve some very cryptic clues, pump some shady characters for information and search for vital evidence, some of which is hidden in partnership with local businesses.
As an ongoing event, we cant delve into the concept in great detail, but needless to say we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The level of research and attention to detail to set up the elaborate story and clues is fantastic. I really was not expecting it to be so in-depth. The interaction with live actors and local businesses adds a new level and really immerses you into the story. It’s also very good exercise, we clocked up 4.5 miles – no comment on whether we the most efficient group of detectives though!
Be sure to interact on social media with the team using the hashtag #WhoKilledJackDiamond using the links below, it really adds to the fun and builds up excitement.
Tickets are priced at £20 per person and the event runs at 12pm and 3pm, Saturday 5th and Saturday 12th August 2017.
