AD | Sliding open the bi fold doors to their full extent, the fresh and salty sea air flooded in. The sound of waves crashing against the golden sands of the shore. Cyclists and joggers passing along the promenade on their early morning workouts. The first group of the day tentatively taking their steps into the water for an early morning dip. Grabbing a strong coffee, I take a seat on one of the deckchairs and watch the morning scene unfold in front of me. We’re visiting Bournemouth for a few days and staying at Bournemouth Beach Lodges on Boscombe Beach.
This visit was a press trip hosted by the BCP Council and Bournemouth Beach Lodges. Accommodation was provided, however all views are my own.
A tour of Bournemouth Beach Lodges
Set back from the main promenade of Boscombe Beach, Bournemouth Beach Lodges are a fabulous option for a beachfront stay in Bournemouth. Located two miles from the centre of the town, the twenty four lodges boast an elevated position with unobscured views of the beach and sea. With an outdoor terrace and open plan living space, the lodges sleep up to six people and have a modern and contemporary feel. With one adapted accessible lodge, as well as dog friendly lodges, they are a great option for a wide range of people.
A look around the Ground Floor
Finished in pastel shades of blue and grey, the exterior of the beautiful lodges bear a resemblance to the traditional beach huts that line the promenade of Bournemouth. Accessed via a set of wooden steps onto the terrace, bifold doors lead into a spacious and modern open plan living space. With white panelled walls, dark wood flooring and natural wood finished furniture, the lodges have a rustic feel with a contemporary twist. The living area features bench seating to either side, including a dining table. With coastal touches to the soft furnishings, you’ll never forget where you are. A handy cupboard and wardrobe is tucked away to the side, providing storage space, with additional storage cleverly designed into the stair structure.

Leading through to the rear of the lodge, a modern kitchenette provides all you need for a beachfront self catering stay. There is a large hob, microwave oven, toaster, kettle and built in dishwasher and fridge. We had a relatively busy schedule during our stay, so wanted to get up, have breakfast and get out exploring. Eggs, porridge and a steaming pot of coffee sitting out on the terrace started off our days nicely. Next to the kitchenette, there was a compact shower room with WC and basin. Although a relatively small space, the shower cubicle was spacious and there was storage under the basin, as well as an additional wall mounted unit.

A climb to the Mezzanine Level
A steep, space saving set of steps led up to the mezzanine level of the Bournemouth Beach Lodges, nestled into the eaves of the structure. The mezzanine, with slatted wooden balustrading took up over half of the footprint of the lodge. A double bed was built into one side with a small single bed tucked into a cosy corner. Given the height restrictions, the beds were set at low level on the floor of the mezzanine. Windows at high level to both ends of the lodge allowed plenty of natural light into the mezzanine, and stair gates both to the bottom and top of the stairs provided a useful safety feature for families with young children.
Sleeping arrangements
With the double and single beds permanently set up at the mezzanine level, the downstairs bench seating also folded out to a create both a double and a single bed configuration. For convenience, as there were only two of us, we chose to sleep up on the mezzanine. The height restriction was not ideal for taller guests, so having the option of the simple pull out beds downstairs was a real benefit.

Outdoor space at Bournemouth Beach Lodges
With the main selling point of these lodges being the location and views, the decked terrace area was a treat. Fully sliding open the bi fold doors of the lodge really bought the outside in, with an unobscured view to the golden sand beach and the azure waters of the sea beyond. The terrace, complete with wooden table, dining chairs and comfy deckchairs was a fabulous spot to relax. Whether it was early morning breakfast, soaking up the first rays of sunshine of the day, to sundowners later in the evening, it was a wonderful spot to enjoy. The lower terrace below the lodges also featured electric barbeques which guests were free to use to create slap up al fresco feasts for their family and friends.

Boscombe Beach
Boscombe Beach, located a couple of miles east of Bournemouth town centre, is the perfect spot for a relaxing coastal break. The gently shelving golden sand beach is stunning, and perfect for water sports. Bournemouth Beach Lodges are located a short walk from the iconic Boscombe Pier and numerous beach bars and restaurants. The ideal spot to head out onto the sand, grab a drink while watching groups playing beach volleyball. There’s a great laid back vibe in the area, and whilst busy during the day, the area around the lodges becomes relatively quiet in the evenings. Sitting on the terrace during those magical twilight moments, with only the sounds of the waves crashing onto the beach while the sky transformed into pastel shades of pink and orange was near perfect.
