Looking up from the sun lounger, the tall palm trees sway in the warm coastal breeze. Surrounding the lagoon pool and its cascading waterfalls, the bright whitewashed buildings with a Moorish influence feature towers and turrets overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. We’re staying at the Dreams Jardin Tropical Resort & Spa in Costa Adeje on the island of Tenerife, the perfect spot to spend three nights soaking up the sun with Jet2.

Having been invited onto the inaugural Jet2.com flight from Liverpool John Lennon Airport to Tenerife in March 2024, we left the cooler temperatures of Northern England for the warmer climes of the largest of the Canary Islands. Renowned for its year round warm temperatures, Tenerife is a popular destination from the UK with a swathe of large resorts along the sunny south coast featuring long sandy beaches, great entertainment and a wide range of hotels and accommodation to suit all budgets. With three nights to spend in Tenerife, we opted to stay at one of Jet2’s Luxe hotels, the Dreams Jardin Tropical Resort & Spa. Somewhere where we could relax and enjoy the amenities on offer, but still be in a great location to explore.

A LUXURIOUS BREAK AT DREAMS JARDIN TROPICAL RESORT & SPA IN COSTA ADEJE
Whatever you’re looking for in hotel accommodation in Tenerife, Jet2Holidays provide options ranging from room only to all inclusive, adults only and family friendly accommodations. We’d opted for a stay in the resort of Costa Adeje for our three night stay in Tenerife. Having visited the resort more than twenty years earlier, I was curious to see how much had changed over the decades. With only a few days scheduled, it was important to choose a hotel where we could enjoy all of the amenities, and the Dreams Jardin Tropical Resort & Spa ticked all of our boxes.

This stunning property, located on Costa Adeje’s seafront, stands out from its surrounding neighbours thanks to its whitewashed buildings designed with Moorish influences and surrounded by subtropical planting, tall palms, a lagoon pool and stunning landscaping. Designed by renowned architect Melin Villaroel, the Dreams Jardin Tropical is a stunning piece of architecture where attention to detail is key. The higher levels of the buildings feature rounded turrets, beautifully lit at night, and roof top walkways provide access to stunning vista points and balconies overlooking the property and the Atlantic Ocean beyond. At ground level, tiled pathways lead around vibrant tropical planting and cactus beds filled with lava rock – a nod to the volcanic make up of the island.
With a lagoon pool featuring cascading waterfalls and plenty of lounging space, the central outdoor space is sunken and surrounded by the resort buildings, creating a beautiful and private haven away from the outside world. Relaxing at the pool area, you could be forgiven for thinking you were at a remote island resort, rather than in the centre of a built up area. With numerous high quality restaurants, bars and amenities on site including a gym, spa and children’s play facilities, the Dreams Jardin Tropical Resort & Spa has everything you need for a luxurious and relaxing break.

THE ROOMS AT DREAMS JARDIN TROPICAL RESORT & SPA
With a staggering 419 rooms, the resort provides a range of options from Double Rooms through to Junior Suites and Suites, with the additional option of Preferred Club Rooms and Suites. All rooms offer a balcony or terrace with mountain, pool or ocean views along with 24 hour room service, a fully stocked mini bar and full bathrooms with showers. Suites, while larger in size, also offer an additional seating area with a sofa and table. The Preferred Club rooms are set within the more exclusive areas of the hotel, with access to a concierge service, their own check-in area as well as the Preferred Club Lounge for breakfast and afternoon snacks.

On arrival and presented with a complimentary glass of champagne, check-in was friendly and efficient with useful information provided about the resort. Our room was an upgraded Junior Suite located on the ground level to the rear of the property with a large outdoor terrace. The decor of the rooms was subtle and stylish, with tiled marble floors throughout, and azure wall tiles on the feature wall complemented by blue shades in the soft furnishings. Rattan lamps were dotted around the room, along with desk space and drinks station including a pod style coffee machine. A seating area comprising a double sofa and table provided a good spot for relaxing and reading in the cool shade of the room.
From the main bedroom area, a corridor led into a large bathroom via a closet providing clothes storage to both sides, as well as a mini bar, safe and a pair of robes and slippers. The fabulous bathroom of the Junior Suite at the Dreams Jardin Tropical was modern and well equipped with a large counter section including two sinks, supplied with plentiful toiletries to use. Opposite the sink counter, a large walk in shower cubicle featured a rain forest shower head with natural body care products, and a separate sliding door to the rear of the bathroom included a WC.

Completing the Junior Suite layout, the outdoor space accessed by sliding doors was sizeable and private. While many of the suites at the hotel had balconies with views, this ground floor accommodation situated to the rear of the property backing onto the public promenade was enclosed with tall whitewashed walls. Directly outside of the door, two rattan chairs and table sat alongside an outdoor sofa, all under the shade of a balcony above. To the sunnier spot of the terrace, two loungers provided the perfect spot for some sunbathing away from the pool area if required. With planters featuring large banana plants and tropical flowers, it was a lovely quiet spot to relax in solitude.

SOAKING UP THE TENERIFE SUN AT THIS BEAUTIFUL RESORT
Wandering around the outdoor spaces of the Dreams Jardin Tropical Resort & Spa transports guests into a subtropical paradise, cocooned from the outside world. Passing through the reception area and Lava Bar led to a beautiful outdoor terrace overlooking the courtyard area and to the ocean beyond. Meandering through the terrace among waist level planters full of colourful blooms, palms and shrubs, the greens, red and pinks were contrasted by calming blue water features. A curved tiled staircase leads down to the lower level provided glimpses of the covered dining areas and restaurants, with pathways leading towards and around the lagoon pool.

Taking centre stage in the lower outdoor area, a fantastic lagoon pool was the perfect spot for a cooling dip or some water based exercise. With zoned lounging areas separated by planters and flower beds, despite the quantity of loungers required for the number of potential guests, the area never felt significantly crowded, even during the Easter holidays. Set away from the pool, further loungers were available in quieter areas, as well as having a smaller children’s pool nearby. Steps from the pool area led up to, and past the Sunset Bar overlooking the ocean, leading to a higher deck to relax. This is fabulous peaceful space led to another tucked away section of the resort including a number of outdoor bamboo four poster beds, fabulous to laze around with a good book, or to grab a cooling drink and take in the coastal views.

Wherever your room is located within the Dreams Jardin Tropical Resort & Spa, be sure to explore the higher floors of the main buildings. With numerous elevators and staircases, the top floors have open corridors leading to large open verandas offering sun loungers and the most wonderful views over the hotel grounds. Meander along these walkways and you’ll find staircases amongst the whitewashed turrets, to secret balconies and vista points – yet another impressive feature of the design of this fabulous resort. At lower levels, there are also covered corridors leading around the building, housing quiet reading corners and games areas with pool tables and table tennis, as well as a kids club area. Make sure to spend time fully exploring the building, as there are so many impressive vista points, sunken gardens and more.
ENJOY A VARIETY OF FOOD AND DRINK AT DREAMS JARDIN TROPICAL RESORT & SPA
Unless staying on a remote all-inclusive resort, it’s very unusual for us to dine out at our hotel accommodation. More often than not we tend to explore the local area restaurants to experience a variety of foods. With such a wide range of options available at the Dreams Jardin Tropical Resort & Spa, we ate most meals at the hotel. The hotel offer Bed & Breakfast, Half Board and Unlimited Luxury within their packages, providing plenty of versatility. With three a la carte restaurants, a lunch and dinner buffet, pool side grill and cafe providing cold wraps and salads, there was certainly enough variety for our three night stay. Throw a couple of bars and a poolside juice bar into the mix too, and there really was no need to venture outside of the hotel complex at all.

SUMPTUOUS BREAKFASTS TO START THE DAY

The hotel’s main buffet restaurant, WORLD CAFE served breakfast and dinner in a stylish and relaxed setting. Whilst we didn’t dine here in the evening, we enjoyed breakfast each morning. From hot buffets including standard breakfast fare as well as an egg station serving omelettes, there were cold meats and cheese, cereals, grains and nuts as well as plentiful fresh fruit, pastries and cake. A hotel breakfast buffet is surely one of the only places that you can have guilt free cake for breakfast?! We were really impressed with the variety of choices on offer, and with numerous seating areas to choose from, every day provided a different experience.
SHADED POOLSIDE LUNCHES SURROUNDED BY PALMS AND WATERFALLS

Located at the poolside, the BAREFOOT GRILL was a fabulous spot for lunch. From sumptuous salads to grilled meats, small plates and sandwiches, it was a great spot to cool off in the shade after a morning at the pool. Crossing the bridge over the pool, a covered terrace area provided a shaded dining area behind the waterfalls that cascaded into the pool. TIDES POOLSIDE GRILL, new for 2024, provided a buffet lunch option with salads, cold meats and cheese alongside barbeque grills including skewered meats. Located directly outside of the promenade entrance to the Dreams Jardin Tropical, THAT’S A WRAP offered fabulous wraps and salads, with indoor seating as well as sunny outdoor terrace.

A LA CARTE DINING WITH STYLE AND SUBSTANCE

For the three nights of our stay, we booked tables at each of the three a la carte restaurants. First up, PINTXOS, a fabulous restaurant within the main dining area of the hotel building. Pintxos are small plates in a similar style to Spanish tapas which was great to sample a wider variety of flavours. With a tasting menu or a la carte menu, there were some delicious dishes on offer in this sleek and modern restaurant setting, and the pricing was very reasonable. Second up, and next door to Pinxtos, was the wonderful TRATTORIA. Unsurprisingly an Italian restaurant, the extensive menu featured classic Italian dishes alongside some more speciality cuisine. With a spacious indoor seating area, the restaurants seating also spilled out to the covered terrace area outside. Our final evening meal was at BABBO AMERICAN GRILL, located on the promenade area to the rear of the hotel. A central open courtyard, surrounded by cosy and comfortable seating areas, the menu offered a wide variety of grills including some impressive looking cuts of steak. With glazing separating the main kitchen from the dining area, there was a touch of theatre whilst watching the chefs carry out their work.

SUNSET COCKTAILS, HEALTHY JUICE OPTIONS OR BEERS ON THE TERRACE

Having spent the afternoon at the poolside, or taking a cooling dip, one of our favourite late afternoon spots was SUGAR REEF. Located at a raised area not too far from the pool, the outdoor Tiki Bar style destination sat comfortably surrounded by the tropical planting of the area. With bright rattan tables, chairs and sofas, this was the perfect spot to lounge with an energy boosting shake or even a cold beer. Having freshened up for the evenings, the ideal spot for pre-dinner drinks was at the wonderful SUNSET BAR. Steps leading up from the pool area led to the upper deck terrace overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and the neighbouring island of La Gomera, behind which the sun would set in the evening. With comfortable sofas and seating areas, this truly was a fabulous spot to relax and gaze out across the ocean beyond the tall palm trees swaying in the breeze. We had some fabulous sunset scenes during our stay.

For our final drinks of the evening, we would head back up to the lobby level LAVA BAR. This stylish bar area spilled out onto the large terrace, where there was nightly entertainment in the form of a non-intrusive musical act. A great spot to finish the day with a drink or two, listening to some relaxing music before heading back to the room for the night.
